Youth Worker

Calman Trust is a young person’s service based in Inverness. Our aim is to improve the life chances of young people in Highland by providing a range of activity focused on improving their wellbeing and regular participation, managing personal challenges and with increased self-belief and confidence beginning to prepare for independent living and/or employment.

We are looking to recruit an experienced youth worker to provide first steps in this process. You will have responsibility for engaging young people in activities that enhance their wellbeing, matched to their personal interests and choices. You must be able to build the trust of disengaged young people and to encourage and inspire them to join in 1-1 or small group sessions.

You will be flexible in your approach, taking account of individual progress in delivering 1-1 and group sessions and collaborating with the wider Calman team. You will have responsibility for engaging with other services where appropriate.

The successful candidate will be:

• Experienced in working with disengaged young people affected by personal challenges, including anxiety, and low motivation

• Able to inspire the participation of young people

• Able to plan and deliver activity tailored to individuals

• Able to plan and deliver group activity that meets the needs of all participants

• Flexible in your approach to work, able to respond to the interests and choices of young people

Additional requirements of the role:

• PVG membership

• Driving licence
