Whether you’re an academic, a solicitor, have certain expertise in a specific field outside law, or are retired and looking for something new, there are committee opportunities for everyone.

About us

We are the professional body for over 13,000 Scottish solicitors. As well as setting standards for and regulating solicitors, we have a role to understand and serve the needs of our members and the public.

About our committees

Our committees carry out valuable work looking at a range of issues to do with improving the law and legal practice. Members of our Committees and Sub-Committees play a vital role in the running of the Law Society and carry out valuable work for the profession and the public.

About the vacancies

We are recruiting for solicitors and non-solicitors along with Convener positions. There really is something for everyone.

Requirements and time commitment vary depending on the committee and role, but for the most part committee members will be expected to attend regular meetings, either online or hybrid, read papers and liaise with your committee colleagues and committee secretary bringing your own unique perspective and insight to the role. We welcome applicants from across Scotland and further afield!
