The opportunity

The role of Social Impact Manager is a new role in the Social Impact Unit within the Department for Social Responsibility and Sustainability. Social impact is a developing area of work for the Department that is currently supported by a small, close team. The team’s objective is to ensure that the University’s community and social impacts maximise opportunities for staff, students, and disadvantaged groups across the City Region. Working closely with the Head of Social Impact, Senior Community Engagement Manager, Community Engagement Projects Coordinator and other Social Impact Unit and Community Team members, the successful candidate will have day-to-day oversight of established projects such as the University’s community grants scheme, as well as undertaking developmental work in emerging areas of interest.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Demonstrable work experience in community and/or public engagement and/or social impact at an operational level
  • Project and budget management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to problems
  • Clear commitment to working as part of a team
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Excellent personal time management and prioritisation skills
