Role

About us:

Scottish Autism is dedicated to enabling autistic people to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives. We believe in the power of relationships to transform the lives of the people we support. We help build a more caring, compassionate, and inclusive Scotland, relationship by relationship. Our people work in teams, supporting each other through the challenges and triumphs that happen every day. Our organisation is our people, and the human qualities they bring to their roles.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Scottish Autism’s Centre for Practice Innovation. You will coordinate and carry out a range of research activities under the leadership of the Director of Practice and Innovation. You will facilitate the involvement of our supported people and staff in participatory research as co-producers of evidence that will influence good support practice. You will also support collaborations with other organisations and academic partners and will help us to promote research that meaningfully involves and benefits autistic people and their families.

About You:

You will have strong organisational skills to oversee several workstreams, involving multiple stakeholders, and to continually track progress. Working with multiple stakeholders, you will need to engage and communicate with people with diverse thinking and communication styles, carers and family members of supported people, social care and education practitioners and the wider community. Applied research skills and the ability to translate data into practice relevant resources and communications is required for the role. Travel is required in the role to support research activities so a driving licence is desirable.

A Postgraduate degree or a PhD in a relevant discipline would be desirable. You will have contemporary knowledge and understanding of autism and neurodiversity across the lifespan. Experience using participatory research methods and approaches is essential.

In addition to application form please send a covering letter to lauren.mcmillan@scottishautism.org.
