Role

The Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) is the Province of the Anglican Communion in Scotland. It has a strong and high profile in Scottish life, is diverse in character and has a presence across the whole country. The SEC is now looking for someone to take up the key leadership role of Secretary General to work with the General Synod and Standing Committee, the Primus and College of Bishops to help the Church harness its unique potential. Candidates for this role need not have worked in a church setting before, bringing experience of leadership roles in similarly complex organisations that demonstrate how they would:

  • create a culture that encourages participation across the life of the Province;
  • develop and manage governance to increase organisational effectiveness;
  • set the tone for Province-wide discussions and decision-making;
  • collect and use evidence as a basis for policy development;
  • formulate and execute change initiatives across a complex and expansive network.

Through all of this will be a living Christian faith and a character of compassion and integrity. Whether the candidates are long-term Scottish residents or live outside Scotland, they will bring a genuine affinity with Scottish values and culture as well as fresh ways of looking at the SEC and its place in Scottish society.
