This is a rare and exciting opportunity to build and lead a newly formed team in a dynamic organisation to support and represent the third sector in the Scottish Borders. We have a primary role in ensuring the continuation and development of a vibrant third sector (charities, social enterprises, community and voluntary groups) in the Borders.
We’re looking to recruit for the first time, a Deputy Chief Executive, someone who is an exceptional leader and motivator that can support the organisation through its next stage of development. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer, who in turn reports to a Board of Trustees, and in this role, you will be expected to deputise, as well as take specific responsibility for managing staff working on a range of projects, and in a range of operational roles. You will have a key role in contact management, oversight and reporting, as well as representing the organisation in meetings both nationally and locally, as we are active in locality-based community planning and in helping community organisations to strengthen their capacity and capability.
You will take the lead in translating the organisation’s strategic objectives into ambitious but deliverable operational plans and securing the necessary resources to deliver them. You’ll provide leadership, management and motivation in a positive and collaborative culture upholding Borders Community Action’s values.
The successful candidate will be a keen networker, politically astute, with experience of business development, being able to quickly operationalise ideas, problem solve and get things done in collaboration with others.
Applications are welcomed from individuals currently working in the Public, Private and Third Sectors. We welcome applications from people from underrepresented groups, and from those looking to work flexibly.
