This role requires empathy, professionalism and an ability to listen intently to those seeking support in the organisation of funeral arrangements for deceased loved ones as well as ongoing emotional support thereafter.

Role Responsibilities

  • Providing direct support, either in person or over the phone, to bereaved individuals or families providing confidential advice and informed choice around funeral provision.

  • Assisting bereaved individuals in applying for and securing funeral-related benefits to cover the cost of a funeral and/or associated costs, where required.
  • Collecting and maintaining sensitive information whilst tracking your workflow as well as support provided and using appropriate data for evaluation or reporting purposes.
  • Using opportunities to network extensively and amplify the work of Funeral Link to individuals and organisations perhaps not yet aware of the services available.
  • Supporting the well-being of clients beyond a funeral, either in person or over the phone, including by referrals to other suitable sources of support and delivering bags of kindness.
  • Working closely with colleagues via monthly team meetings and strategic development sessions with team and trustees to support the ongoing development of Funeral Link.
  • Helping engage with the strategic development of Funeral Link, as articulated in the strategic plan, which is available upon request.
  • Engaging with and responding to any other duties or responsibilities to fulfil the purposes of the role, as required or upon request.
