All roles at OPFS contribute to our mission of working with and for single parent families, providing support services that enable them to achieve their potential and help create lasting solutions to poverty and the barriers facing many single parents and their children.

Equal opportunities and family friendly employment

OPFS aims to be an equal opportunity and family friendly employer and flexible working requests will be considered. OPFS has Investors In People status and Living Wage accreditation.

Purpose of role

The Advice and Information Service is a long established, national service within One Parent Families Scotland. We give support and advice to single parents and practitioners on a wide variety of topics; whether that be about money, their home, children, relationships, health and wellbeing or even work, training and education. We work over several online channels to provide this advice including telephone, webchat, email and social media.

A new opportunity has arisen within our Advice and Information team for a Community Located Advisor. As well as supporting parents through our existing online channels, you will be responsible for travelling to different communities throughout Scotland to inform and support single parents within their own communities. You will also get the opportunity to build relationships with local parents, community groups and organisations. This role will also involve doing some promotional work, ensuring that communities we visit are aware of the support that OPFS offers to single parent households all over Scotland. You will get to add to our policy and campaigns by highlighting and collecting information about the topics most important to single parents.

Due to the nature of the role and the necessity to travel, a full, clean driving licence and access to a car would be preferable.

*Location: Hybrid working style: working from home & office base over 3 days per working week, with travel over Scotland 1 day per working week within community bases. The Advice and Information Service has an office located in Glasgow city centre. Expenses will be given for travel according to OPFS policy.
