WEA have an exciting opportunity for an ESOL Sessional Tutor to join our Scotland team.
We are looking for inspiring ESOL Tutors who have experience of successfully working with adults to develop their English language skills for everyday life and work.

As a Sessional Tutor, you will provide the highest possible quality teaching and learning to a group of learners, in both face to face classroom and online classroom environments.

It is our most powerful and important tool in meeting the needs of our learners and the communities, regardless of starting point or educational need - We bring learning to the learner, whether it be in local trusted venues or their living room via online learning.
Key areas of responsibility:We are looking for qualified ESOL tutors for Glasgow to teach in-person locally and online nationally.
We teach a variety of ESOL non-accredited and SQA accredited courses such as English for Everyday Life, ESOL with SQA Core Skills Numeracy, ESOL for Parents, ESOL for Employability and SQA National ESOL at various levels.

As a qualified, experienced and capable tutor, you will use hybrid and/or blended learning approaches to include digital learning through our Canvas platform and have the skills to deliver face to face or online using Zoom (training is provided).
You will be keen to engage with people from a range of disadvantaged backgrounds and rekindle their love of learning, and you will share our passion for egalitarianism and empowerment. As a Tutor, you should have:
- Have up to date working knowledge and experience of teaching ESOL to diverse student groups with an emphasis on lower-level learners including Literacies level. It would be beneficial to have experience of working with refugees and asylum seekers in a community context and experience of teaching online. Experience of using CANVAS VLE or a similar platform is desirable as all students are given a CANVAS account.
- Have an ESOL teaching qualification (minimum CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent is essential with Diploma level desirable, TELTA also desirable).
- Have experience of delivering non accredited courses with SQA ESOL Tutor/Assessor/IV experience for accredited courses from Literacies to National 3 desirable.
- Have experience of or willingness to incorporate numeracy into their courses.
- Have experience of delivering SQA Core Skills Numeracy units or a willingness to develop their skills in this area.
- Be able to create or adapt materials and the syllabus to meet the specific needs of the learners.
- Have a strong understanding of adult learning and a belief in its importance and an awareness of the Social Practice approach to teaching and learning.
- Have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Have a desire to share and improve teaching practice.
- Have strong IT skills (preferably use of Microsoft office and Teams) and have the ability to use digital technology to teach and to manage course administration
- Be based in or near the course location for in-person teaching in community/partner venues.
- You should have a strong team work ethic as we like to collaborate and support each other.

Working closely with our Finance Director and Finance Manager, you will help keep our systems running efficiently, supporting both day-to-day activity and the wider mission of the organisation.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all invoices and expenses submitted through Dext are accurate before publishing to Xero, resolving any discrepancies and confirming correct coding and tax treatment.
- Complete regular bank reconciliations in Xero, matching transactions and promptly investigating variances.
- Keep supplier and customer contact records in Xero accurate and up to date.
- Prepare and set up payment batches for approval, ensuring invoices are correctly coded, authorised and processed in line with internal procedures.
About you:
- Experience working with Dext and Xero and online expense management systems.
- Confident handling day-to-day financial processes.
- Organised, with an eye for detail and accuracy, you take pride in keeping data clean, reliable and easy to navigate.
- Comfortable following established processes but also able to improve or update them when needed.
- You enjoy solving problems and can work independently, managing your workload efficiently and proactively.
- You communicate clearly and professionally, and you work well with others across different teams.
