Role

Background:Dr Guthrie’s Association SCIO is a small charity that has close association to the Guthrie Family who are descendants of Dr Thomas Guthrie, a Victorian Minister and philanthropist. We distribute around £90,000 annually in grants of £500 to £2,000 to organisations supporting disadvantaged young people in Scotland.

Role:We are looking for a Grant Administrator to assist Trustees in the administration of our Grant applications. The principal duties are as follows:

  • Collate and precis the applications into a grant application summary (summaries and applications are issued to Trustees for consideration three times per year)
  • Liaise with Trustees on the Awards to be made
  • Report the final Awards to the Charity Administration team for them to process payments
  • Prepare a short report and organise speakers from beneficiary organisations for the AGM
  • Make up to 6 organisation visits per year and write up short visit reports
  • Update Trustees on a regular basis on the funds spent in the year

Requirements:

  • Strong written and organisation skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are essential, knowledge of Powerpoint would be useful
  • An interest in Scotland’s not-for-profit sector

Time Commitment:Hours required are on average 3-4 hrs but this is subject to change due to the seasonality of the grant application process and requirements to attend the AGM or other events.
