About Open Seas

Open Seas (openseas.org.uk) is a small environmental charity working in Scotland and beyond to promote environmental recovery in our seas and champion sustainable seafood. Established in 2016, we conduct environmental and policy research to inform consumers, markets and decision-makers as well as generate campaigns to drive positive change for the environmental health of Scotland’s seas.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll join a small, creative, and supportive team working to make a real impact for Scotland’s seas. This is a maternity cover position, offering an exciting opportunity to step into a dynamic role where you can quickly make a difference.

You’ll help craft engaging digital content and drive public campaigns that raise awareness of seafood sustainability and marine protection — inspiring both people and policymakers to take action.

A key part of your work will be supporting collaborative external campaigns and finding imaginative ways to grow Open Seas’ reach and influence. From storytelling through film and design to building our online presence, your creativity will help showcase Scotland’s incredible marine life — and the urgent need to protect it.

You’ll contribute across a range of activities, from managing social media and improving SEO, to developing new website content and visual communications.

We’re looking for someone who’s agile, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment. You’ll be a positive self-starter and a collaborative team player who enjoys bringing fresh ideas to life and adapting as priorities evolve.

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (the Trust) is looking for a full-time Individual Giving & Membership Officer.

Your primary role will be

• To provide an excellent customer service experience to the Trust’s members, donors, and supporters.
• Day-to-day management of the individual fundraising elements of the Trust’s Microsoft Dynamics Customer Relationship Management database, ensuring it is fit for purpose.
• With the Individual Giving Manager (IGM), implement strategic initiatives to develop and grow income from Membership, Individual Giving and Merchandise.

The Individual Giving and Membership Team raises unrestricted funds for the Trust and stewards the membership lifecycle. These significantly contribute to aim 5 of the Trust’s strategy to be a sustainable organisation. The team also has a key contribution to strategic aim 2, encouraging individuals to take action to help bumblebees.

You will be a highly organised and detail-focused individual with excellent customer service skills across phone, email and written communication. Strong verbal and written communication abilities, alongside high computer literacy in Microsoft Office 365, are essential. You will manage detailed administrative tasks and be comfortable maintaining live data on the fundraising CRM database. You will work collaboratively to identify and implement system and process improvements, building effective relationships across dispersed teams. You will be a proactive team player who can independently plan and prioritise their workload, while recognising development needs and undertaking training to adopt new tools and technologies.

This is a full-time post for 35 hours per week. Some overtime work may be required and a flexitime system is in place.

The Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Membership Recruiter to join our team.

No day is the same for our Membership Recruiters – you will travel around varied, exciting and unique venues throughout Scotland, all within a 1 hour radius of your home base, unless otherwise arranged with your line manager. Your days will be spent managing your own membership stall, actively engaging with the public and inspiring them to become members of the Trust.

Our membership recruiters are often the first point of contact for people who are yet to learn about our work. And so, whilst the main part of this role is to recruit new members, our recruitment team also work hard to inspire the public to become as passionate about wildlife as we are. Whilst experience is desirable, we are open to meeting the right fit for our team, and this position comes with direct training, with your fuel and parking costs paid for on top of your salary and commission. You’ll also have your own vehicle provided for business use.

As a member of our recruitment team, you will:

• Actively contribute to our vision of a healthier, wilder, Scotland.
• Attend venues and events as a Membership Recruiter
• Use appropriate communication and sales techniques (with no ‘hard sell’) to encourage members of the public to join the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

The successful candidate will:

• Be an engaging communicator – you can comfortably build rapport with members of the public and colleagues.
• Be a self-starting individual who is confident with lone-working.
• Be well-organised with good administrative skills.
• Have some knowledge of conservation and wildlife in Scotland.
• Hold experience in a customer-facing role such as Direct or Field Sales or Customer Service with experience of working to targets.
• Have the flexibility to work weekends.
• Be comfortable with working outdoors and independently.
• Have a full UK driving licence – there is no requirement to have your own vehicle.

About The Cats Whiskers:

The Cats Whiskers was formed in 2018 by a group of dedicated local volunteers, who saw a need in our local community for the care and re-homing of cats. Initially, these efforts were all carried out with the support of incredible foster carer volunteers. We are now thrilled to operate our re-homing centre in Alloa.

We also have a charity shop in Alva, opened in 2018, which generates income for our core purpose of rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming cats.

Purpose of the job:

Since welcoming the first cat into our shelter in October 2022, our activities have grown to meet

need. In 2023, we rehomed 150 cats. In 2024, this increased to 179. We have also had an increase

in foster care, launched a pet food bank, and become a distribution partner for The Blue Cross. We

are seeking to onboard this role, our first paid staff member, to ensure the smooth day to day

running of our Rehoming Centre on Broad Street. To take on this role, we are looking for someone

who shares our passion for cat welfare, and wants to provide a quality, community service,

supporting our incredible volunteer team, working with, and furthering our local partnerships, and

ensuring the best possible care for our cats.

Main Responsibilities:

As the Volunteer and Centre Coordinator, you will be responsible for the day to day running of the Centre, focusing on the welfare of all cats in our care, and managing our volunteer programme. You will also ensure that all administrative and maintenance procedures are completed to a high standard.

We are looking for someone who is positive, driven and has the ability to thrive under pressure. You will support the board of trustees to continue to develop our Centre and services to meet local need. You will be someone who has:

• Experience and passion for cat care
• Great communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Current (clean) driving license
• Strong organisational, administration and analytical skills
• Experience of working within local communities; creating and nurturing partnerships
• Awareness of health and safety legislation
• Willingness to learn
