We are seeking an experienced practitioner to join our Crisis Intervention Service who is passionate about helping people who experience homelessness move on to positive destinations. This role will be leading a volunteering program that provides opportunities for volunteering, work placements, education, and employment for people who experience multiple barriers in accessing education and employment.
We have a committed group of volunteers who give their time and expertise to helping us deliver the café and barista service, some of those are corporate, and those who want to give back to society, and volunteers with lived experience working within The Marie Trust digital cafe, barista and training kitchen delivering high-quality services for people who are faced with challenges in their lives to come into the service and access a wide range of services: counselling, intervention (housing and welfare) education and not-for-profit digital café, a barista, and a training kitchen.
The role will involve working directly with people who are volunteering and those who want to volunteer, taking referrals from external agencies and within The Marie Trust
The role requires empathy, understanding, and the ability to see a way forward and be proactive in helping volunteers gain the best they can from volunteering and helping them move forward in their lives away from homelessness.
We are looking for a people person, good at building relations with people who are excluded and can identify opportunities and who can utilise their existing skills that they have gathered to transfer into this work. You need to be able to multi task, be a team player, non-judgemental and be able to see the best in people and work with them to improving peoples life chances.
Organisation Profile
The Marie Trust is a frontline homeless service based in Glasgow city centre. In the past year, over 2,735 individuals presented to The Marie Trust for assistance. On an average day, we can have up to 100 individuals presenting for advice and assistance, education, and meals.
We have a Not-for-Profit Café Service, Barista, and Training Kitchen., providing nutritious homemade meals and training volunteers with life skills and skills for work.
We have our own Counselling Service, and an award-winning Education Service which works in partnership with Glasgow colleges. Our Crisis Intervention Service works with the most excluded individuals within society and provides direct access to advice and assistance for individuals who struggle to engage with services.
