Join us to help improve the lives of disabled children, young people and their families and carers by becoming our new Family Support Officer in Dundee.
We have big aspirations and this new role has been created to provide structured family support. This will complement our existing adventure play-based activities at The Yard and in the wider community.
Job details
We are looking for an understanding individual who has been immersed in children and disability through professional or personal experience. You should be able to provide information and emotional and practical support to families with children with a wider range of abilities. You will be able to engage with families and be able to engage and empower experienced parents and carers to support new families navigate available support from statutory and voluntary services.
If successful, the candidate can expect a non-hierarchical, supportive and understanding work environment, where the team is highly passionate and committed to our mission. About Options Fife Continuing Care
At Aberlour we listen to understand what our young people want and need within our local area. Our Options Fife Continuing Care service in Glenrothes supports young people with learning disabilities and/or autism to live and thrive within the local community.
This service will be home to 4 young people aged 16 plus who will all have their own individual flat. Our rota has been drafted to suit the needs of the young people.
What we are looking for....
We are looking for a full time (37.5 hours, working 3 x 12.5 hour shifts per week) Young People’s Worker to join our team. You will play a fundamental role in our young people’s lives to ensure that they get the best possible experience whilst working towards goals in their care plan. Using a person-centred approach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical and emotional care, supporting our young people in their daily living and within the local community.
If you have an interest in working with young people, we would like to hear from you. Ideally, candidates will have social care experience, understanding of autism, complex needs and disability. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (for example: SVQ3 Care plus an HNC) together with relevant experience of working with children or young people. You must also be able to demonstrate awareness of the key elements of working with people affected by disability as well as an understanding of, and commitment to, young people’s rights.

What we are looking for....
Through your work in a relevant care setting you will have extensive experience of dealing with child and adult safeguarding concerns. You will also have supported others to respond to safeguarding issues.
You will use this knowledge to review, update and deliver safeguarding training to staff across the organisation either face-to-face or virtually as required.
You may already have delivered training within teams or may be keen to explore training as a new opportunity.
This is a 30-hour post and can be worked over 4 or 5 days. Aberlour has services across Scotland so travel will be required. You will be able to work from a local office or from home and will be expected to travel as required to deliver training sessions.

This registration includes a requirement to meet a minimum level of qualification.
What we are looking for....
We are looking for a qualified assessor to support SVQ assessment across the organisation.
We are approved by the SQA to deliver SVQs in Social Services (Children & Young People). To enable assessment in this award you should have a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above along with your assessor award.
Your experience should include working in a relevant care setting, assessment of at least 4 candidates through to completion of their SVQ’s. You must be able to demonstrate that you have experience of planning, preparation, delivery and evaluation of learning activities in a social care setting.
The post is 37.5hrs per week and will require travel across Scotland. Your work base can be flexible, we are able to support a mix of office and home working as required.
