Context
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our Rock Housing team. Our ideal candidate will be determined to provide young people with safe, fully furnished housing in Edinburgh, Fife, Perth and East/West Lothian – as well as providing them with the support needed to make a success of what can often be their first experience of independent living.
Specifically, as the Property and Facilities Team Officer, you will have the experience and ability to take primary responsibility for the day-to-day management of our range of properties, predominantly but not limited to those in Edinburgh. A key task withing this role is efficient management, and maximisation, of rental income whilst minimising rental void periods. Thereby contributing to the smooth and effective generation of income for Rock Trust. Other responsibilities include co-ordinating property repairs, managing excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders and other property management tasks.

OPAL (Older People, Active Lives) works with individuals and communities to promote independence and wellbeing for people age 60+ across West Lothian. We deliver person-centred, early intervention and prevention services to keep people connected in later life. Our service aims to provide people with the tools to enable them to live independently and remain in their own homes for as long as they want to be there.
About the role
The Senior Service Coordinator leads the Service Coordinator and Service Support Assistant in the delivery of the befriending element of the OPAL service and the management of our volunteers.
As Senior Service Coordinator you will:
- Oversee all aspects of the one-to-one support element of the service
- Manage the volunteer journey including recruitment, retention and supervision
- Promote sustainable community connections through befriending, encouraging service users to continue contributing within their community
- Build a network of support to boost the continued development of the service
The role is fixed term to cover for an internal secondment.

You’ll have experience in a similar role, be sensitive, pro-active and have a positive attitude.
As you’ll have the opportunity to work with a broad range of people, you’ll have strong communication skills, be approachable, with the ability to adapt to achieve shared goals.

About the Team
Based in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee, but serving all of Scotland, our Scottish Housing Law Service is funded by the Scottish Government and Scottish Legal Aid Board. It also receives income through legal aid casework. This particular role is based at our Edinburgh office.
About the role
As a Legal Secretary, you’ll be responsible for audio and copy typing, including the typing of legal documents, often to tight deadlines. We’ll also rely on you to manage the team's diaries and assist with the running of seminars and training activities by producing training notes and publicising and administrating the courses. Dealing with telephone and written enquiries from clients, lawyers or Shelter staff, providing a reception service, sorting the post, helping to produce financial information and opening and closing files on our case management CRM system – all are aspects of this interesting and varied role.
About you
To succeed, you’ll need a demonstrable relevant background and good written and verbal communication skills, including a professional telephone manner. Experience of financial procedures would be useful, but isn’t as essential as proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, email and internet and the ability to deal confidentially and tactfully with sensitive information.
