Lothian Community Transport Services (LCTS) is a small, but ambitious charity, providing community transport services to the City of Edinburgh and the Lothians. The community transport sector currently finds itself in an exciting time of change and progression, with a focus on sustainability and an emphasis on working towards net zero targets. LCTS is also undergoing changes, we have an organisational commitment to diversifying our services whilst maintaining our commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
Our Board of Trustees and our Committee members play a key role in the oversight of the charity, ensuring that it delivers against its charitable objectives, is financially sustainable, has strong governance and safeguards the reputation and values of the organisation.

The Chair
We are looking to recruit a new individual with the skills and experience to act as a key individual for our organisation, lead the Board of Trustees while promoting good governance, and provide effective and empowering support to our CEO.
Trustees and Committee members will be expected;
- To assist the Chair in providing Board leadership on specific areas of strategic direction.
- To act as an effective champion for LCTS.
- To ensure that LCTS is representative of the communities we serve.
- To oversee and ensure the implementation of LCTS policies.
- To ensure effective corporate governance, risk management and financial management of LCTS.
- To uphold the highest ethical standards of integrity and comply with the Board’s Code of Conduct.
What can we offer?
We provide a full trustee induction and warm welcome to LCTS. We can offer opportunities for professional development and experience, alongside support from a well-established trustee board. We offer a hybrid meeting format, so you do not need to live locally to our office bases in Portobello or Dalkeith. WE ask that trustees and committee members attend our AGM in person and expenses are provided. We aim to provide a balanced workload and share tasks equally. Committee and board meetings take place on a quarterly basis.

Family Journeys are currently recruiting for a trustee to join our Board of Directors. Collectively, the board are responsible for the governance and strategic directions of our charity and we would welcome any individual with compassion and professional experience in the field of social work, children’s services, third sector or family law to please get in touch with us.
Free Wheel North needs more Trustees to facilitate its development and growth. The charity exists to enhance mental and physical health, to regenerate communities, champion the rights of the disabled and to provide personal development through volunteering. Its means include inclusive cycling, community cafes, art, woodwork and networking UK wide on sustainable transport.
2023 has been a record year for the Glasgow Green Cycling Centre with tens of thousands of project users enjoying inclusive cycling. We need help to accommodate demand. This will be a rewarding journey as we fulfil our mission to replicate our work widely, not only in Scotland but throughout the UK, enabling many more isolated people to come together in inclusive communities.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Trustee for our organization, contributing to the overall strategic direction and decision-making process.
- Ensure responsible governance and health and safety in line with the requirements of the charity regulator.
- Dealing with HR issue
- Actively participate in board meetings, providing input and expertise on key issues.
- Collaborate with other Trustees to establish and monitor organizational goals and objectives.
- Utilize your expertise in fundraising to help develop and implement fundraising strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support for the organization's financial management and budgeting processes.
- Assist in the development and implementation of marketing and public relations initiatives.
- Act as an ambassador for the organization, representing it at various community events.
Requirements:
- Strong Knowledge of Governance
- Good understanding of HR
- Strong IT and web skills
- Keen interest in health and safety
- Strong knowledge of social enterprise
- Proven experience in fundraising, with a track record of successfully securing funds.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to cultivate and maintain strong partnerships.

- Knowledge of marketing principles and strategies to support fundraising efforts.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

The ELCAN Hub, a partnership between East Lothian Climate Action Network (ELCAN) and Lower Impact Living CIC (Lil), is seeking a dynamic individual to lead transformative climate & nature action and adaptation within the region. As the ELCAN Climate Hub Manager, you will play a key role in cultivating a resilient and just community-driven movement that addresses the challenges of the climate and nature emergency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project management of the ELCAN Climate Hub.
- Building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Leading the team to deliver Hub outputs & outcomes.
- Financial management, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Staff appraisals, development, and fundraising.
Base: Selected Schools across West Lothian (Livingston and West Calder area) with flexibility to work from home when not delivering in-school sessions
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sustrans team and work as part of the I Bike Project in Scotland. The I Bike Project has been running in Scotland since 2009, working closely with schools to promote sustainable travel.
This is a newly created post where you will be responsible for delivering the I Bike Project in West Calder High School and St Margarets academy and their associated Primary Schools, to promote sustainable (active) travel to and from school and for recreational journeys. You will be supporting a number of local teams, including school staff and the Active Schools Team.
You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as the Senior Leadership teams within the schools, Local community group leaders and Local Authority members. In addition, you will support the School Champions, the staff and volunteers promoting sustainable (active) travel within the school communities, using Local Authority resources to promote the I Bike project.
This role will require travel, including overnight stays and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.
About you
You should have experience of working with children and young people as well as working with schools and community youth groups, with the ability to build relationships with ease across a wide range of people.
You will have good written and verbal communication skills, and you will be knowledgeable planning for presentation, lessons, and activities.
We would like you to have undertaken or be willing to attend the National Standard Cycle Instructor Training, and Bike maintenance training, and have an understanding of active travels programmes in Scotland.
