Role

Aberlour Family Support Centre - Langlees works in partnership with the local community by providing a range of services which promote, positively support and strengthen the capacity of children and families to reach their full potential.

Our service supports families in the Falkirk area who may have a wide range of issues, which could include concerns for child development, social isolation and childhood trauma. The service works directly with the whole family in various settings, such as their own homes and our community-based family support centre which is registered with the Care Inspectorate. As a Child & Family Worker you will be responsible for a caseload of up to 6 children aged between 12 months and 3 years. Additionally, you will work alongside experienced staff to deliver parenting support in a group setting, working 22.5 hours a week.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our highly motivated and skilled team to provide a personalised service for our children. You will have the necessary skills and experience to enhance the development of under 3’s in an early years, community based setting. Experience of working alongside Health, Education and Social Work colleagues to improve life chances for children and families will be beneficial to this position.

A working knowledge and understanding of the key stages of a child’s development, including early brain development up to the age of 3, the impact of family circumstances on children’s well-being and child protection issues is required. You will be familiar with, and have experience of implementing and embedding the Realising the Ambition Guidance, and other local and national best practice documentation. Knowledge and understanding of the Five to Thrive approach would be advantageous.

This post is offered on a fixed term basis until 31st December 2021 to cover maternity leave. The hours will be worked to meet the needs of the service.

“The help & support the centre has given to me and my son over the past year has been amazing. Knowing someone is thinking of me and visiting to give practical support has been great. My son has learnt how to interact with other children and his speech has improved. Staff know what he needs and update his plan often.” - Parent

You will maintain an appropriate professional registration with the Scottish Social Services Council. Family Support Centre - Langlees is registered as Day Care of Children and you will have the necessary Early Years qualifications requirements for this category which are SVQ Level 3 or HNC.

What we will offer you:

  • Excellent development and training opportunities to enable you to grow and develop your skills.
  • Access to our group pension scheme.
  • Continual support working as part of a small highly motivated team.
  • Access to Aberlour Rewards retail discount scheme.
