Role

The No.1 Befriending Agency is a vibrant local social enterprise that works to reduce loneliness and isolation through providing established, quality befriending services. We work with our dedicated volunteers to provide the support that local older people need to live happy, healthy lives. We work to help people stay connected with their communities, alleviating loneliness, improving health and wellbeing and making communities stronger through volunteering.

Purpose:

The main focus will be on delivering Befriending Projects to the community, working closely with service users/ clients and volunteers. The key reasons for this is supporting people experiencing loneliness and isolation, further adopting and expanding our services, providing one to one and group befriending opportunities for communities and individuals; improving people's lives. In this role, the Volunteer Co-ordinator will perform a vital part in supporting existing volunteers, matches and developing new volunteer opportunities; assessing service users and supporting them through the journey.

The candidate:

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills as well as a good understanding of the needs and concerns of older people as well as those from hard to reach groups within the community. You will be an excellent communicator and know how to network to gain positive outcomes, be able to build a rapport with a diverse range of people, be appreciative of difference, able to learn from others and challenge if needed. You will have a passion for and strong commitment to social care and community engagement.
