We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified gym instructor who can support the young people to use Helm’s in-house gym safely and effectively. Using the gym and taking part in group sport activities is beneficial for the young people’s physical and mental wellbeing and is a key component of the holistic approach Helm takes in supporting young people’s the personal development and gaining of soft skills such as confidence, communication and team work.

The gym instructor would contract to Helm two half days a week (Monday-Thursday.) Exact days and times to be confirmed upon appointment.

Key responsibilities in the role include:

  • Provide support to young people on a needs led basis within the Helm gym, or in a public green space, so that they can safely access the equipment and gain personal benefit from taking part; improving physical health, mental health, personal confidence, team work, etc.
  • Undertake inductions with young people and staff.
  • Promote the development of resilience in young people.
  • Create an inclusive environment where the voices of young people are heard and respected.
