Do you have the skills and experience to drive positive change for people living through terminal illness, neurological conditions and bereavement?
We are looking for a Head of Influencing & Engagement who will report to the Deputy Director of Marketing and Communications to deliver Sue Ryder’s influencing strategy and increase our engagement with MPs, MSPs, policy makers and other external stakeholders. You will lead our Policy and Public Affairs team and the work of our Public Affairs Agency to delivery our policy priorities in palliative, neurological and bereavement support with particular focus on our work to secure greater statutory funding for palliative care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work closely with our Public Affairs agency, Public Affairs Manager and Public Affairs Officer and Engagement Officer to deliver and evaluate our influencing strategy.
• Commission, review and publish research to evidence gaps in services and issues faced by people at the end of their life, with neurological conditions or who are bereaved.
• Support the development of external relationships with partners, MPs, MSPs, policy makers, the NHS and other organisations across the palliative, neurological and bereavement sector as well as and broader third sector
• Work collaboratively with the Head of PR, Head of Digital and colleagues across Sue Ryder to ensure our influencing approach and outputs from research maximise our opportunity for media coverage and social media, ensuring the organisation responds to relevant media coverage on palliative, neurological and bereavement issues supporting our ambition to raise brand awareness.
• Understand and interpret local and national trends, drivers and policies that impact on our wider work as well as our palliative, neurological and bereavement work.
About You
You will have extensive experience of working in a senior public affairs role in a charity or healthcare organisation, with a strong track record of delivering accurate and impactful written material and leading campaigns that bring about change. You will have a good understanding of the complexities of working for a national organisation, excellent leadership and project management skills along with the ability to influence and build solid working relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
