Role

Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) is an independent Scottish charity, whose mission is to be the community of support, kindness and challenge where people can help each other, can secure the expert help they need, and collectively advocate for the care that matters to them. We offer vital advice, support and information to those affected so that they can live the lives they want to live and influence public policy to ensure that people get the services that they need. Our renewed ambition is to become Scotland’s leading organisation for person-centred, user-led community support for people with our health conditions.

We are seeking a Physical Activity Specialist with a REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) Level 4 instructor qualification to help deliver our Physical Activity strategy. You will be responsible for delivering and promoting physical activity to those people who are referred to the Health Defence project and the wider Physical Activity programme. You will use your expert knowledge to deliver according to physical activity guidelines to improve the health and wellbeing of our service users.

The CHSS Health Defence initiative focusses on the secondary prevention and self-management of chest, heart and stroke conditions. Physical activity is a key element of this initiative and funding granted by the Glasgow Communities Fund enables us to build on the existing physical activity offer in Drumchapel with expansion into the Maryhill community and virtually.

We are seeking an individual who is organised, motivated, with good communication skills and who has experience in delivering physical activity sessions. Candidates must have further/higher education in Health & Fitness beyond school certification (e.g., HND/Degree) as well as a Level 4 specialist qualification in one of our three conditions. Experience in mental health training and motivational interviewing is also desirable. Access to a car is essential.

Travel to Glasgow/Edinburgh when permissible due to Covid regulations.

*This post is fixed term up to 31 March 2023.

CHSS employees enjoy a variety of organisational benefits including: Company pension scheme, generous holiday allowance, company sick pay, employee welfare support and life assurance.
