Children 1st is Scotland’s National Children’s Charity. We help Scotland’s families to put children first, with practical advice and support in difficult times. And when the worst happens, we support survivors of abuse, neglect, and other traumatic events in childhood, to recover.

This an exciting opportunity to be part of Children 1st within our Dundee Service.

At Children 1st we work with the whole family and we see our relationships as the key to our approach to improving wellbeing. We are seeking a Family Support Worker (Fixed Term) who is compassionate, highly skilled and experienced in working with children and their families and has the personal resilience for the role. We offer whole families space and time to tell their stories, make sense of their difficulties and help them to find their solutions.

You will have a sound knowledge of the impact of trauma and adversity on parenting and on children and you will work with the of our creative, committed and flexible team to plan our work with children and their families, in order to promote children’s safety and wellbeing. You will also have experience of working in partnership with other Agencies, within the Child Protection processes and Getting it Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) framework.

If you have experience of supporting the wellbeing of families and communities, are committed to Children’s Rights and have an SVQ Level 3/ HNC or equivalent in Child Care/Social Care or related area, or other relevant qualification at SCQF level 7, we want to hear from you.

This is a fixed term, full time post of 35 hours per week and funded until 31st March 2022.

Hours to be worked flexibly to suit the needs of the service and the families. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.
