Barnardo's Threads service has been supporting young people in the Renfrewshire area for over 20 years.

Barnardo's in partnership with Renfrewshire Council is recruiting a project worker (PW2) for our GAP Homes service.

GAP Homes will provide a coordinated and intensive package of support for identified young care leavers. These young people can present with multiple and/ or complex support needs. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience of supporting young people through issues including trauma, loss, substance use or exploitation. You will liaise with multi agency partners to deliver outcome focussed support. The support is delivered over seven days therefore a flexible working approach is required.

About Family Support Centre, Langlees.

Aberlour Family Support Centre - Langlees works in partnership with the local community by providing a range of services which promote, positively support and strengthen the capacity of children and families to reach their full potential.

What we are looking for

Our relief workers play a crucial role in supporting our team. This work is offered on a casual, hourly paid basis to provide cover during staff absence and/or particularly busy periods. Availability should be specified on your application form. Ideally, you will have experience of direct work with children and families.

You will have the necessary skills and experience to enhance the development of under 3’s in an early years, community based setting. Experience of working alongside Health, Education and Social Work colleagues to improve life chances for children and families will be beneficial to this position.

Ideally you will have a working knowledge and understanding of the key stages of a child’s development, including early brain development up to the age of 3, the impact of family circumstances on children’s well-being and child protection issues.

You will be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council or be working towards the required qualification for registration.

Barnardo's Scotland has three established services working with young people and women in custody. Outside in Youth Work service, Parenting Matters and Here and Now our trauma, bereavement and loss service.

A vacancy has arisen within our Here and Now Service for a skilled and experienced Counsellor, with an accredited psychotherapeutic qualification and registration to a relevant body, who can demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality psychotherapeutic services to vulnerable young people and women on both a short and long term basis.

As such you will bring a range of experience including having delivered innovative Trauma/Bereavement focused interventions in 1:1 and group settings.

You will work flexibly and creatively, alongside Here and Now colleagues and in partnership with the SPS and other agencies to develop and deliver a service that reflects the needs of young people and women in custody.

Services

Here and Now offers a range of services including-

Assessment/Outcomes- Providing standardised assessments with demonstrable outcome measures.

Therapeutic Interventions – currently including counselling, art psychotherapy. The range of therapies offered within the team aims to meet the needs of each individual.

Psycho-educational group work – These are self-contained modular sessions which can be experienced cumulatively with a focus on stabilisation, safety and self-care/containment.

Candidates will have an accredited Psychotherapeutic qualification and be registered with a professional body
