Role

In February 2021, Fife Council produced a service brief relating to Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Supports and Services for Fife. The service brief links closely to the Our Minds Matter framework in Fife and reports to a multi agency Senior Operating Group in Fife. The funding for this service brief was for an initial 6-8 month period and Barnardo's were successful in securing funding to cover Levenmouth and North East Fife areas of Fife. We secured further funding to expand the service to cover the North East Fife, Levenmouth, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath areas of Fife. This service will commenced in January 2022 and is funded for an initial period of two years.

This service delivers a variety of interventions which aim to support the emotional health needs of children, young people, and families. We offer a range of supports in the form of group programmes, support groups, workshops, one to one therapeutic support and training to other professionals. We offer support to children and young people 5-24 (26 if care experienced) and their families.

The aim of this service is to increase the capacity of existing services by providing early prevention and intervention through upskilling, supporting, and educating the community. Our hope is to enable young people to have positive mental health and wellbeing, thrive in their community and to be able to bounce back from life's challenges. Additionally, we aim to support parents to feel confident in responding to their children's mental health needs and increase their capacity to support them.

We are looking for workers who are passionate about working in this area of work and who are excited about joining a small but committed team to help grow the service and develop practice to meet the needs of the children, young people and families of Fife. To make this happen we are looking to recruit to the following post.

1 x Maternity Cover - Mental Health Practitioner (Full time) – You will carry a small caseload and be responsible for providing ongoing therapeutic support to children, young people and their families. Additionally, you will be responsible for the creation and delivery of workshops and groups in response to the local identified need and assessing, responding and signposting enquiries. The maternity cover is covering the North East Fife area of the service.

Please see the role profiles for further information and the requirements for this post.

At Barnardo's we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. Our safer recruitment processes mean that the safety and welfare of the child is paramount at every stage of the process and therefore, we adopt rigorous scrutiny in our pre-employment checking. This post is subject to a range of pre-employment checks including a Criminal Records Enhanced Disclosure for the successful candidate.
