Role

The Salvation Army in Edinburgh needs an Assistant Support Worker to provide support for people who are experiencing homelessness and have multiple and complex needs. Our role is to provide a safe place to stay and access support. The service delivery model is rooted in the harm reduction approach, based on trauma informed practice, strength based and person-centred approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the delivery of support to homeless clients with complex needs.

• Work with clients as part of person-centred support planning which includes aiding access to a range of meaningful activities.

• Work with clients as part of the Support Team assisting to ensure the needs and actions within person centred plans are addressed in a professional manner.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Motivation towards supporting homeless individuals to achieve focussed and positive life outcomes.

• Good customer service and time management skills with ability to prioritise workload.

• The ability to form positive, supportive and motivating relationships.

• Able to work within the ethos of The Salvation Army.

• Willingness to work towards registration qualification for SSSC Registration.
