This is an exciting time for the Parkinson’s UK team in Scotland; we want to reach as many people as possible so we can improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s. We are looking for people to join our network, make genuine connections, and be part of a larger team that works together to support the Parkinson’s community.
About the role
You’ll be responsible for driving forward the charity’s plans and activity, working with the vision and reflecting the needs of our communities in Scotland. You’ll grow, facilitate and inspire a movement of people that has a positive impact both locally and nationally.
You’ll lead collaboration, joint planning, shared ownership and delivery of our work to develop a people powered movement, uniting behind a vision of improving the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson's in Scotland.
We’ll consider applications for those wishing to work 28 hours a week.
What you’ll do
- Build and develop local partnerships, collaborations and coalitions to achieve innovative and creative responses with positive outcomes that will meet identified needs
- Create an inclusive model of feedback, collaboration and communication that increases participation and involvement across diverse communities, staff, volunteers, other strategic partners and most importantly people affected by Parkinson’s in Scotland.
- Source and analyse data and local intelligence to support the community in Scotland to make informed decisions about priorities and evaluate interventions
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrable experience of engaging, inspiring and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders including those from diverse communities
- A commitment to working collaboratively with volunteers
- Knowledge and/or experience of appropriate health, social care structures and services relevant to Parkinson’s and of the principles of influencing for change
- Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate, oversee and ensure delivery of a number of projects simultaneously
- Experience of data sourcing and analysis to provide reports and information for a range of audiences

You will be part of Scotland’s leading health charity providing support to people with chest, heart and stroke conditions and Long Covid to live life to the full again. Working as part of the Professional Engagement team, the CHSS eLearning service exists to ensure that people affected by, and those caring for, people with these conditions are supported with information they want, when they need it, and in a way that is appropriate for them.
As the CHSS eLearning Officer, within the professional engagement team, you will be responsible for supporting the processes involved in reviewing, developing and maintaining CHSS’s portfolio of eLearning resources.
The post holder will collaborate with the appropriate internal and external professionals, service users and advisory groups to ensure the content of all preexisting and new eLearning resources remain current, and evidence based.

The Coordinator plays a vital role in delivering Community Support services across the Lothian area for people living with chest, heart, and stroke conditions, as well as Long Covid.
They are responsible for leading a high-quality, person-centred service that empowers individuals to build confidence, manage their condition, and work towards their own goals. This includes the recruitment, retention, and line management of volunteers who provide goal-oriented and time-limited support, helping people take positive steps towards greater independence and self-management.
The Coordinator will also develop strong local connections and a detailed community map to support effective signposting, ensuring people can access the right support at the right time.

As Lead Stroke Nurse – Borders, you’ll play a vital role in helping people move from simply surviving to truly living. You’ll join Scotland’s leading charity supporting people with chest, heart, and stroke conditions to live life to the full.
Our Stroke Nurse service is part of CHSS’s Community Healthcare Support services, offering person-centred care underpinned by self-management principles for individuals and families affected by stroke. The Stroke Nurse will work in close partnership with the NHS Borders Stroke Service, ensuring seamless support across hospital and community settings.
In this role, you will manage a caseload of stroke patients, delivering high-quality, person-centred care. You will lead and support a team of Stroke Nurses and Health Care Assistants, ensuring that service delivery meets organisational standards and performance targets. Additionally, you will champion continuous improvement in line with our No Life Half Lived strategy.
We’re looking for a clinically qualified professional who is registered the Nursing and Midwifery Council. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of stroke care and patient support, along with proven experience in a management role. A management or leadership qualification is desirable but not essential.

The Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Melrose in the Scottish Borders. The Borders covers a large and scenically beautiful area of the Southern Uplands of Scotland. Predominately rural, it is historically a unique part of the country, the home of the Border Revivers, where annually each town maintains its links with the past during the season of Common Ridings. Seven-a-side rugby originated in Melrose, and the Melrose event in particular draws large crowds each
year. The Borders has tremendous facilities for sport and leisure. Glentress and Innerleithen mountain bike parks are world renowned for both cross-country and downhill biking. The beautiful Berwickshire coast provides options for sea kayaking, surfing, diving and sea fishing. In addition, there are facilities for fishing, golf, swimming, horse riding, cricket, football, hiking and many other activities. Excellent cultural opportunities in terms of music and art societies, drama, and small theatres in Melrose and Selkirk as well as amateur opera. There are excellent restaurants, cinemas and shops. Excellent Fitness Centre in Galashiels and other Borders towns. There is a purpose-built nursery in the grounds of the hospital.
The Scottish Borders offers all the benefits of rural life with very easy access to major cities such as Edinburgh (37 miles) Glasgow (75 miles) Newcastle (75 miles). Edinburgh is renowned for its cultural activities in music, including opera and ballet, theatre, cinemas (including a film theatre) and visual arts, and of course every year there is the world-famous Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe Festival. Local transport links have improved greatly in the last year or so.
The Borders Railway has train services to central Edinburgh running every thirty minutes (journey time 50 minutes approx.). Tweedbank Station is a few minutes’ walk from the Borders General Hospital. There are rail links to the rest of the country at Berwick Upon Tweed, and Carlisle and there is easy access to Edinburgh Airport (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes) and Newcastle Airport (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes).

Our community health support services form a nationwide network of local support groups, nurses, volunteers and one-to-one support teams helping families adjust to life with a heart or lung condition or after a stroke.
The role of the Stroke Nurse is to facilitate a smooth transition from hospital back into the community, for people who have had a stroke and their families.
The Stroke Nurse helps them adjust to the changes associated with the stroke, through the provision of information, advice and support.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who is organised and motivated, with good communication skills. Candidates must have a first level general nursing qualification and have a minimum of 3 years’ post-registration experience in either a hospital or community setting. Experience working with people affected by stroke is desirable.
