Role

The Edinburgh and South East Scotland (ESES)– Regional Enterprise Council has a vacancy for a new member who works in a Social Enterprise. They should have knowledge and opinions be able to formulate views around Inclusive Growth and Community Wealth Building, and as far as possible be in a position to represent the city region which includes East Lothian, Edinburgh, Fife, Midlothian, Scottish Borders and West Lothian. The Regional Enterprise Council has six meetings a year of 2 hours each which are currently held virtually.

The ESES City Region Deal is a £1.4bn project over 15 years and has five themes: Innovation, Employability and Skills, Transport, Culture and Housing. The Regional Enterprise Council was formed in November 2018 to advise the City Region Deal’s decision-making body, the Joint Committee, on the delivery of projects across these themes and the city region. The REC represents business, social enterprise and the wider third sector across the region. More recently a significant part of the work of the REC has been contributing towards the Regional Prosperity Framework development and delivery plans. The Framework articulates the long-term aspirational goals for ESES to guide the future direction of regional economic and wider policy. It seeks to set an ambitious 20-year vision for the regional economy, up to 2041.
