Harmeny Education Trust is a sector-leading children’s charity providing therapeutic care and education for children and young people with complex additional support needs. We currently work with up to 32 children of primary up to early secondary stage, both on a dayand all-year-round residential basis. From August 2022, we will offer continuing care and learning for young people already at Harmeny, up to the age of 18.
Harmeny is situated in a beautiful 35-acre woodland estate, which includes residential and education accommodation, community garden, orchard, wildlife habitats and children’splay areas. Harmeny is located in Balerno on the outskirts of Edinburgh, at the foot of the Pentland Hills; we are easily accessible by bus and transport links.
We are currently seeking a Service Manager (Residential) to join our dedicated Care Management Team on a full-time basis. The normal hours for this post are 39 hours per week, which includes some work during evenings and weekends(as part of an on-call system), and additional hours may be required to fulfil the needs of the post.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective leadership, management and development of our care services, and play an active role in the strategic direction and growth of the organisation as part of Harmeny School Management Team.
The post-holder will lead on aspects relating to the therapeutic care and developmental needs of our children. This will take full account of policies and practices informed by
Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) and Curriculum for Excellence (CfE), and will encourage the support and participation of families and carers, as we promote the recommendations of The Promise.
Applicants should be registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) in line with the requirements for Managers of a Residential Child Care Service, or they will need to register within the first six months of employment.
