On Bikes Apprentice Bike Mechanic

  • 10 hours per week: approx. 0.25 FTE, £9.98 per hour. Fixed term contact for 6 months from start of post with the possibility of extension subject to funding.

Role

St Paul’s Youth Forum are seeking a passionate and committed individual to help us kick-start a cycling revolution at the Seven Lochs Hogganfield Loch. St Paul’s have gained funding to start and run a bike repair shop/hire venue.

As the On Bikes Apprentice Bike Mechanic you will be leaning or refining skills to repair and maintain bikes. You will have the chance to go through training that will give you an industry standard qualification. You will then be supported by a community engagement officer and experienced and trained bike mechanic to use these skills in a bike hub at the Hogganfield Loch. You will help a community development officer to lend out bikes for a small fee, talking to the public to gain interest in the project.

As this is a new project, we need someone who isn’t afraid to get stuck in, learn and have fun!

This position is funded through the Rank foundation for 6 months from the start of employment.

Established in 1997, St Paul’s Youth Forum works with young people in the north east of Glasgow to provide a wide range of opportunities for their growth and development. We run a wide range of activities from a youth radio station to weekly pizza nights.
