Role

Cruse Scotland is seeking to recruit a self-motivated, proactive Chief Executive to lead the organisation through our ambitious new strategy and into the next phase of our development. You will be an influential, experienced and persuasive leader with excellent interpersonal skills. You will have a proven ability to develop successful partnerships, engaging people at all levels, as well as a strong understanding of the importance of supporting those who have experienced bereavement. You will have excellent financial and project management skills. You will deliver Cruse Scotland’s strategic goals, whilst continuing to increase the organisation’s profile, providing inspirational leadership to our very committed staff and volunteer teams. You will also have significant experience of income generation and of developing successful strategic and business plans.

If you have a successful track record in organisational leadership and are passionate about making a difference by helping us to reach even more bereaved people in Scotland, then we would really like to hear from you.

The Charity:

Cruse Scotland is the nation’s only open-to-all bereavement support charity, providing support to bereaved adults, families and children across Scotland for the last 50 years.

Research suggests there were approximately 50,000 people in need of bereavement support in Scotland in 21/22. The data shows that our staff and volunteers working together provided one to one support for approximately 10% of this population, with many more people being helped through information, training and group support. This shows a significant reach and impact for an organisation with a small staff infrastructure that is dependent almost entirely on highly skilled volunteers for service delivery. While this is a very significant achievement, we continue to work tirelessly to develop our services to enable us to reach even more people who need our help.

The positive impact of Cruse on those we support (in terms of improved mental and physical wellbeing, reduced need for GP and other medical assistance and earlier return to work) is clearly demonstrated by our evidence-based evaluation.

We have ambitious plans for growth and development to help us to reach more bereaved people and we are looking for an excellent candidate to lead the organisation to deliver our strategy.
