Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Stirling Students’ Union as Activities & Volunteer Coordinator to create and implement an ongoing strategy to increase student participation and engagement to develop student led groups. Improve student skills and enhance employability through promotion of volunteering opportunities and facilitation of a peer support network. Create a culture of inclusion, whilst maintaining effective communication working with the Vice President Communities. Work closely with the Careers Employability Service to showcase opportunities to students and be an effective contributor to enhance the student experience and “Make Students Lives Better”.

About You

We’re looking for a talented and passionate individual to join our Membership Services division. You’ll be driven, using your initiative to support a wide range of organisational initiatives, programmes and projects. Specific duties of the role include:

  • To champion student activities, keep abreast of national issues and develop programmes to enhance the student experience
  • Work with the Vice President Communities on delivery of training for student clubs and societies
  • Support and facilitate club committees to explore opportunities and events as well as supporting them to resolve any issues as they arise
  • Provide a programme of support and recognition for student led groups
  • Develop activities of the Union’s charitable groups and facilitate their work
  • Ensure effective communication through regular meetings and contact with club committees and officers, and supporting the Vice President Communities to do so as the Officer lead
  • Work with the Union’s membership database and have responsibility for updating relevant section of the Union’s website
  • Design and deliver training courses and skill development programmes for student volunteers to improve student employability and ensure effective running of their respective groups
  • Create and implement a strategy to increase the opportunities for and participation in co-curricular activities and general volunteering
  • Act as lead for provision of a programme of peer-mentoring (such as STEER) working closely with the Vice President Communities to do so
  • Act as Minute Secretary for Communities Zone, Communities Zone Exec and other Committee meetings as necessary
  • Ability to work in a front facing role working on the Union’s front desk and acting as the initial contact for student enquiries.
