Role

Harmeny Education Trust is a sector leading children’s charity providing therapeutic care and education for children who have experienced early years trauma and adversity. We work with children of primary up to early secondary stage, both on a day and all-year-round residential basis, with plans to extend our services by providing continuing care and learning for young people up to the age of 18, in line with The Promise.

We wish to engage a Consultant Psychotherapist to to provide staff across the organisation with a reflective space to support them with with their highly skilled and complex work with children.

Using psychoanalytic observation and consultation, the Consultant Psychotherapist will facilitate individual and group reflective space sessions, providing a thoughtful and non judgemental approach to enabling healthy relationships where children and adults can feel supported and understood, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

The Consultant Psychotherapist will initially be engaged for a 12-month period, commencing August 2022, with the possibility of this arrangement being extended by mutual agreement.

Applicants must have extensive training and experience in child and adolescent mental health, working with children and young people, families and professional systems around the child. Registration with the Association of Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists (ACP) or equivalent, together with substantial knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have experienced early years trauma and adversity, are essential.
