Role

We are a deaf-led charity working together for an equal and better future for all deaf people since 1835. We are looking for staff who can make a major contribution to our plans for innovation and growth and who have the commitment and enthusiasm to contribute to the work of our support services to Deaf people with additional needs throughout Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife. We are currently recruiting:

Support Workers Part time and Full time (37 hours) available.

Salary £10.50 (additional sleep-over payment per occasion)

You should have…

• SVQ (level 2) in Social Care or similar qualification preferred.

• Certificate in Sign Language (level 1 / 2) or equivalent desirable.

• Experience in working with deaf* people / people with special needs preferable.

• Experience in supporting people in their own Tenancy’s preferable

• The ability to provide quality, person centred, support (including evening, weekend and sleep-over)

• A willingness to learn and show initiative.

Main Responsibilities

• To take an active role in assessments / recordings and to work with service users to develop their skills and abilities to achieve identified outcomes.

• To assist service users with personal care tasks where appropriate.

• To be involved, as appropriate, with all household tasks, maximising service users’ participation.

• To record the day-to-day finances (where relevant) and household budgets of service users.

• To enable service users to access information to be fully informed of their rights and valid expectations from the service provided.

• To ensure the health, safety and security of individuals and their environment.
