Role

The Green Action Trust drives positive change through environmental regeneration.

Green Action Trust is Scotland’s leading environmental regeneration charity and the trusted delivery partner for the Scottish Government and a wide range of stakeholders including local authorities, regional partnerships, landowners, environmental groups and local communities.

They provide bespoke solutions to support action on climate change, biodiversity loss and environmental inequality linked to national policy across a range of sectors. Specifically, they are responsible for delivery of the Central Scotland Green Network, a £2.4 billion, 40-year programme and one of the largest green infrastructure initiatives in Europe.

By 2025, Green Action Trust’s strategic ambition is to be regarded as the nation’s leading environmental regeneration charity and go-to-organisation working with a wide and varied range of stakeholders and organisations across Scotland.

The CSGN is more than just a ‘Green’ initiative, it is designed to support, link up and build on existing greening partnerships and programmes with the objective of improving the social, physical, cultural, and environmental well-being of central Scotland. Covering an area of 10,000km2, which includes 19 of Scotland’s 32 local authorities, from Ayrshire, Inverclyde and Dunbartonshire in the West to Fife and the Lothians in the East, the CSGN takes in 87% of the country’s most deprived areas and offers the potential to improve the lives of 3.5 million people, or 65% of the population.

The Development Manager (CSGN) is a new and unique role with not many like it in the UK. It has specific responsibility for the operational management and development of the CSGN, in partnership with a multitude of high profile stakeholders. It is a significant role with key objectives around raising awareness, increasing interest and driving action. You don’t need to have a background in the environmental sector, although you should have a passion for it. You should be experienced in understanding and conveying government policy, reports, monitoring and evaluation data. You should be innovative, a confident communicator, planner and thinker who can engage and build partnerships with the aim of getting stakeholder buy in.

If you want to be a leading force in shaping our environmental future and have the desire and capability to help others achieve the ambition, please get in touch.
