Role

Do you feel passionately about improving the life chances of children, young people and families?

Are you a whizz on social media, confident making new connections and able to whip up an engaging blog on demand?

Dartington Service Design Lab is an internationally respected social research and design charity focussed on improving services for children and young people. We do this using various approaches from the scientific and service design community. As an organisation, we have more than 50 years of experience working across the public and voluntary sectors.

We are boosting our staff with a number of new positions including an early-career communications specialist. The successful candidate will be based in Great Britain and will support the delivery of our communications strategy across multiple channels with their skills in content creation. They will also strengthen our capacity to deliver superb online workshops and events. They will be able to communicate digitally, verbally and on paper extremely well with a wide range of audiences. We value empathy and collaboration and a focus on using evidence for social good.

We need a communicator who is curious, full of ideas and able to quickly integrate into our team, ideally with experience of, or an interest in working in research or policy environments. Key responsibilities are included in the job description document.

As a team, we operate remotely across Great Britain with regular project-related travel when it is safe to do so. Over the past 4 years we have successfully been using online and video communication tools to deliver our work. Our staff tend to work from home or when appropriate, together in local co-working spaces, and normally, every quarter we meet as a whole team in our beautiful Devon office for a few days.

We strive for diversity in our team. If we’re going to design impactful services for children and families, we need to ensure our team is inclusive. Dartington encourages applications from all backgrounds, and we are committed to having a team that is made up of diverse skills, experiences and abilities.
