Role

Scottish Huntington’s Association is the only organisation in Scotland to exclusively support individuals, and their families, whose lives are impacted by Huntington’s disease. Recognised as one of the world leaders in HD Care, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced health and social care professional to join our team!

Due to service expansion, we have a vacancy for a part-time Huntington’s disease Specialist to join our Ayrshire & Arran HD Specialist Service. The team provide care management, specialist assessment and regular emotional support to individuals, and their families, throughout Ayrshire. The specialist service works in partnership with, and provides training and education to, local Health and Social Care teams, professionals and voluntary agencies involved in all aspects of HD care.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and who will have a positive influence on the quality of life of the individuals on their caseload.

Scottish Huntington’s Association invites applications from people from an allied health professional, nursing or social work background and you must have a current professional body membership. Previous experience of working with Huntington’s disease is preferred, but not essential. We will provide you with all the condition-specific knowledge you need.

The successful candidate should be able to work autonomously in this challenging and innovative post. Good listening, communication and interpersonal skills are vital, as are excellent time keeping and caseload management abilities. Community-based practice knowledge, a clean, current driving licence and the use of a car complete our list of essential criteria.

The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced disclosure check.
