Are you a children’s nurse?

The CHAS at Home team work in families’ homes providing the highest level of family centred care to support the needs of babies, children and young people with life shortening conditions and their families.

We are looking for a dynamic Staff Nurse who is passionate about providing expert, person-centred care for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families in their own homes. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!

You will experience the privilege of providing specialist palliative care, end of life care for children and respite for the whole family in their own home. You will use your current knowledge and develop new skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will provide specialist, person-centred palliative nursing care to babies, children and young people
  • You will adapt care plans to meet the complex needs of each individual
  • You will give nursing care at the end of life and bereavement support
  • You will offer emotional and practical support to the child and their family, ensuring contact is maintained between visits and that the wishes of the family are delivered.
  • You will mentor the Nursing Support Worker, students, and volunteers
  • You will liaise with and work in partnership with our NHS, social care and third sector colleagues
  • You will participate in quality assurance and practice development activities

About You

  • You will be kind and empathic
  • You will be a team player whilst also being able to work independently
  • You will have a registered nurse qualification
  • You will hold a degree or evidence of equivalent experience
  • You will have experience of assessing, planning, organising, implementing and evaluating nursing care for babies, children, young people and their families
  • You will have experience of working with whole families to provide education and support in managing a child or young person’s condition.
