Role

Do you really know your stuff when it comes to outdoor and adventure? Do you have loads of energy and passion, and know how to really engage with people?

We’re looking for a highly motivated and values-driven leader to help us deliver our outdoor and adventure strategy, meet our ambitious growth targets, and provide a focus for outdoor learning within our programme both internally for Scouting and for external audiences.

About the role

Your primary role is to be responsible for the Scout Adventures operational plan. You’ll lead on making sure the most appropriate business model is in place as we recover and grow following the pandemic, and meet the needs of our members, external customers and our financial targets.

Your work will include centre-based and outreach delivery. It will be key to work closely with our Centre Managers/Wardens to identify and maximise opportunities to deliver outdoor and adventure training and activities to support Scouting.

You'll be involved in external networks within the outdoor sector and will work closely with our Business Development Lead to seek new partnership opportunities with education, youth, and charitable organisations.

You'll lead, develop, manage, and inspire your staff team, and make sure we’re providing excellent logistical support to Scouts Scotland volunteers and the wider membership in Groups, Districts and Regions, as well as to members of the public.

What it's like working for us

We're a values-driven, award winning flexible employer. We want Scouts Scotland to be the best place to work and offer a wide range of family and carer friendly benefits to support work/life balance. This includes flexible hours, paid leave for volunteering and public duties, and additional leave for long service. We believe in supporting and developing our people, with a focus on wellbeing and continued personal and professional development.

Application notes

If you’re passionate about the outdoors and a great leader, we’d love to hear from you!
