Role

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) is the sole provider of hospice services in Scotland for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We currently have an exciting opportunity within our Family Support Team for a Social worker at Robin House, Balloch.

It is an exciting and unique opportunity to work alongside a highly motivated and skilled team and to be part of an organisation where everyone is passionate about the work we do.

You will play a key role in providing a comprehensive social work service to babies, children or young people with life-limiting conditions and their families, focusing on the co-ordination, development and delivery of service provision designed to assist with the issues related to the child or young person’s condition and the impact it has upon the wider family.

It is essential that you have a degree or diploma in social work and be registered with the SSSC. You should also have relevant post-registration experience of working with children and young people and complex family situations where loss and change are prevalent. You will have highly developed communication and negotiation skills as well as the ability to adapt the support you provide to meet the needs of individual families.

At CHAS, staff and volunteers work together as one team, focused on the common goal of reaching every family in Scotland who needs our support. We have a 3:1 ratio of volunteers to staff members in CHAS. All CHAS staff will at some point work with or alongside volunteers and will be expected to support volunteers.

Our ambition is to reach every family in Scotland who is living with the heart-breaking prognosis that their child is dying, and offer them our care and support to empower them to make the most of the short time they have together. As a Social Worker, you will be instrumental in achieving this vision.

This is a temporary post for up to one year to cover for maternity leave.
