Role

Scripture Union Scotland's vision is to see every child and young person in Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus. We are a national charity, with almost 100 staff and over 2,000 volunteers. Our activities take place in schools, outdoor activity centres, churches and online.

Job requirements

We have a new opportunity to support this exciting vision by joining our Finance team as an Assistant Accountant.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Processing donations, other income and all expenditure.
  • Acting as a key contact with supporters regarding donations and gift aid.
  • Banking cheques and cash received.
  • Making payments.
  • Preparing accounting reconciliations to support the management accounts and VAT returns.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Experience of working in an accounting role and having/working towards an accounting qualification (HND level).
  • Trained in basic accounting, reconciliation, and VAT principles.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel with experience of using accounting software packages.
  • Meticulous with detail and strong numeracy skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills to ensure processes run smoothly.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and prioritise tasks to meet set deadlines.
  • Confident communicator who will relate well to supporters, suppliers and staff at all levels of the organisation with absolute confidentiality.
