The media and content officer is primarily responsible for developing story and campaign ideas to secure media coverage and raise awareness of our mission across the UK. Applicants will need strong writing and media relations skills and the ability to create and write engaging news stories to promote Mary’s Meals campaigns and key activities.

Principal duties include:

  • Grow the profile of Mary’s Meals by writing news releases and engaging proactively and reactively with a wide range of journalists, celebrities and partners.
  • Look for new stories and opportunities with journalists, including regular scanning of key media.
  • Utilise a range of platforms to engage UK supporters, including Mary’s Meals’ social media channels, publications and direct mail – including content production for all channels.
  • Support the donor/volunteer experience and increase engagement through the creation of meaningful content in keeping with Mary’s Meals’ distinct storytelling style.
  • Contribute to the development of creative communications campaigns that tell the Mary’s Meals story and build support for our vision.
  • Plan, develop and produce compelling supporter resources, including information booklets, flyers, posters, infographics and emails.
  • Ensure that all communications and media work accurately protect the reputation of Mary’s Meals and promote our brand values, style and key messages.
  • Liaise with colleagues in Mary’s Meals International (MMI) to secure case studies and other programmatic consent from our school feeding programmes for digital, print and broadcast platforms.
  • Contribute to Mary’s Meals’ internal communications with staff, trustees and volunteers – ensuring content is timely and engaging.
