Do you have a passion for nurturing plants and people? We have a new project in the grounds of Ashbrook, a Victorian villa in North Edinburgh. There are formal gardens and lawns to be reinstated, an area of wild woodland and vegetable and fruit gardens to be established.
The Salvation Army is committed to ensuring all we do has a positive impact on our environment. Crops grown in the garden will be used in the neighbouring Ashbrook Café and Eagle Lodge Care Home and eventually for sale to the local community.
The gardens will be a place of nurture and education for people from Salvation Army projects supporting people out of homelessness and addiction and other community group members who will benefit from therapeutic gardening. The successful candidate will support some participants to gain an entry level SVQ in horticulture and offer guidance to those who just wish to enjoy gardening.
We want to create an environment where people of every generation can work alongside each other, learning each other’s life experiences and supporting each other.
You will be able to demonstrate:
