Improving the lives of children and families in North Edinburgh

Funded by The City of Edinburgh Council, BWell Together is a partnership in the Northwest of Edinburgh that will work to:

• improve the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people
• improve the resilience of children and young people – increasing the capacity for children, young people, and their families, to resolve difficulties and problems
• increase the capacity of parents/carers in supporting the emotional needs of their children and young people.

The partnership consists of seven agencies: Circle, Stepping Stones North Edinburgh, Granton Youth, Intercultural Youth Scotland, Pilton Children’s Youth Project, Muirhouse Youth Development Project, and Wester Hailes Youth Agency.

As part of this partnership, Circle’s Haven Project is recruiting a part-time Family Wellbeing Practitioner to support families where children and young people are experiencing challenges around mental and emotional wellbeing or distress. Support will include the provision of one-to-one support for children and holistic family support, with the aim of building resilience, parenting capacity and positive relationships.

We have a number of Full-Time Waking Night Shift positions available working on a rota basis, including weekends.

FULL TIME HOURS ARE 40 HOURS - PART-TIME HOURS MAY BE CONSIDERED

ABOUT CAERN

Barnardo's Caern Disability Services consists of three unique Projects who deliver a variety of quality services for young people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We have done this for over forty years.

Our Caern Short Breaks service supports up to 5 children and young people at any one time aged 5-18 by offering short break respite packages to them and their families. All staff play an active role in supporting the children, young people and their families/carers to achieve positive outcomes, as identified in the Young People's Individual Support Plans.

ABOUT YOU

Ideally you will have experience in working directly with children and young people in a similar setting. Experience in supporting children and young people with a learning disability and/or Autism would be an advantage. Communication with the young people is paramount - the key is time tabling; structure; reliability and consistency. You will be faced with behaviours that challenge, including physical.

The staff team across Caern Services must be fully accepting of our children and be prepared to offer them a professional relationship based on acceptance and informed by our understanding of their individual needs, wishes and experiences. We are passionate about the children and young people that we care for, showing understanding, empathy and consistency in our approach.

You will hold (or be willing to work towards) a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above (for example SVQ3 children and young people) plus an HNC in social services. These qualifications are required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as part of your employment. There may be external grants available to partly fund this.

We are looking for a full-time Events Officer to join our Fundraising Team. The individual will play a key role in:

• maximising income with a focus on events, corporate and individual fundraising

• raising the profile of Circle with a focus on internal and external communications and social media content

• work in partnership with colleagues across Circle in the development of fundraising for projects and activities

Applicants should have experience of engaging with different communities, including supporters, community groups and businesses, and encourage their support for Circle’s work to raise income.

Experience of sustaining and developing events, corporate and individual fundraising similar to our DARED running challenge, the Kiltwalk and other events is essential.

As part of the Circle Fundraising Team being able to contribute to the development and upkeep of the fundraising database and maintain complete and accurate records relating to fundraising, marketing and communications activities, and report on their performance on a regular basis to the management team as required would be advantageous.

Experience of managing an organisation’s internal and external content and communications through mediums such as newsletters, Twitter and Facebook would be advantageous.
