Role

Scottish Drugs Forum (SDF) is Scotland’s national resource of expertise on drugs and related issues. We seek to lead and represent the drugs field in Scotland in order to improve Scotland’s response to problem drug use. SDF works with policy makers, service planners and commissioners, service managers and staff as well as people who use or have used services to ensure service quality and evidence-based policy and practice.

We are pleased to be recruiting for a Local Support Fund Team Manager. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a busy and dynamic team.

About the Project:

This project is being developed and delivered as part of the Scottish Government-led National Mission on Drugs to address the public health emergency around drug-related deaths and improve the lives of people who are affected by a drug problem.

Corra Foundation will support the Scottish Government in dispersing and managing a variety of new funds to support the delivery of the National Drug Mission. One of these funds, The Local Fund, will support relatively small organisations with a turnover of less than £500,000 to deliver a range of work that can support a reduction in drug-related deaths in Scotland.

Scottish Drugs Forum has been funded by the Scottish Government to ensure that the resources of the Local Fund are used to best effect.

This post will involve delivery of a range of support to organisations who are preparing a bid to the Local Fund or have been funded through the Fund. The two primary aims will be to -

· assist the development of strong bids to the fund from eligible organisations

· support those organisations funded through the Local Fund to deliver their proposed projects.

About the Post Holder:

We encourage applications from people who can utilise their experience of organisational management and development, to support community organisations to develop so that

· they have adequate leadership and governance structures, systems and processes, policies and procedures, and monitoring and evaluation systems, in order to improve the prospects of them making a successful application to the Local Fund.

· they can deliver the impacts and outcomes for which they have been funded by the Local Fund.

As a new post, this is a development role and the successful candidate will require a flexible approach and an ability to work on their own initiative to develop the service according to need. They will also have relevant experience of or an ability to develop the necessary knowledge to map existing grassroots organisations, construct funding bids and awareness of financial and governance aspects of running a successful project.

But we emphasise this project will take an iterative approach – learning through doing. The ability to reflect, evaluate and change approaches will be crucial. There will be ample opportunity for the postholder to ‘grow’ with the role.

Benefits of working at SDF:

As an SDF employee you will benefit from generous annual leave entitlement, a range of learning and development opportunities, competitive pension contribution, enhanced sick pay and an employee support and counselling service. SDF encourage a healthy work life balance and offer a flexible working scheme.

Our ambition is to work together to promote a more inclusive environment, which attracts all candidates and signals our commitment to celebrate and promote diversity.

We are mainly working from home, but it is envisaged this post will have a significant amount of in person work and will require regular travel throughout Scotland and an ability to attend work in our head office based in Glasgow as required. Candidates should be willing and able to work effectively from home.
