We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Youth Outreach Workers who are passionate about developing and delivering quality, engaging & fun activities that are accessible to children & young people across West Dunbartonshire via youth outreach work on the streets of West Dunbartonshire.

You will have the main role of providing outreach provision and activities across West Dunbartonshire in various outdoor locations, supporting children and young people to access diversionary activities. You will mainly target those 12+ years, at time and place that is making our service more accessible to those that do not access mainstream activities – the Youth Outreach Workers will sign post and support young people to current provisions, local youth activities as well as support. You will as part of the Youth Work Team create opportunities where there is gaps in provision for young people to come together in a safe space and participate in activities and learning opportunities.

You will be part of a Youth Work team delivering exciting and engaging high quality activities that children & young people they enjoy, whilst improving their health & wellbeing, making friendships, and becoming more connected to their local community.

You will be in possession of a full and clean driving license – we have People Carries available that you will be driving as part of your role.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Y sort it.

EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS: prospective candidates must have, or be working towards, basic accreditation to deliver a physical activity programme – although training may be provided to suitable candidate, external agencies will be used for advanced activities.

Granton Youth took its services outside during the pandemic and its success with young people in improving their skills, mental health and wellbeing means it is now an integral part of the GY programme. GY is recruiting a youth worker with experience of delivering a physical activities programme for young people aged 11+. The successful candidate will develop and implement a physical activity programme to work with young people to coordinate and design a programme of outdoor/indoor activities, in conjunction with young people and networking with activity providers. The post holder will provide 1:1/mentoring for any young person identified as requiring additional support.

The post holder will work with team members to deliver appropriate programmes to support and motivate young people to participate in the provision - including planning, development, decision-making processes and evaluation.

Working closely with the Chief Executive and Leadership Team of the charity, the Board is responsible for the legal and operational oversight of the charity, ensuring that it is financially sustainable, has strong governance and safeguards against risk to protect its reputation and that it delivers against its strategy and charitable objectives.

• HR / Employment Law - A Trustee with expertise in assisting in the review of HR policies and staff handbook as well as offering guidance on staffing and recruitment.
• Legal - A Trustee with the ability to help in confidently scrutinising contractual funding/ partnership delivery documents.
• Senior Leadership - A Trustee with leadership and service delivery experience in the charity or public sector particularly within Family Support organisations.

The role will involve attending six board meetings per year including preparation time. In addition, you may be invited to be involved in the Finance, Risk and Audit (FRA) subcommittee, depending on your skills and interests.

The position is voluntary, however reasonable travel expenses are reimbursed.

Location: Meetings of the Board are normally held midweek in East Kilbride between 6.00 – 8.30pm.

Core areas of responsibility:

• Book all receipts and payments of funds and upload all invoices on to our accounts package;
• Manage all regular monthly and annual donations;
• Notify the Director of all grants and donations received.
• Work with external accountant ensuring they have all information needed in time for preparation of management accounts and the annual accounts and annual financial returns.
• Provide all documents required to independent examiner to allow them to complete the annual audit.
• Manage relationship with independent examiner and respond to any enquiries raised;
• Contribute to budgeting process and monitoring of income and expenditure actuals against budgets.
• Provide updates and information for the Director and Chair as required;
• Manage all transfers of funds to partner organisations overseas.
• Manage savings and current account and timely transfers from savings to current to meet scheduled outgoings.
• Maintain our database, ‘donorfy’, on which all donation income is recorded.
• Manage relationships with landlord, contractors and suppliers
• Work closely with Appeal Manager to record all donation sources
• Manage annual due diligence requirements with bank
• Ensure efficient maintenance of all financial records including filing on shared folders.
• Other duties as required.

You will be entitled to five weeks (pro-rata’d) paid leave and time off in lieu for hours worked at weekend or evening meetings/events.

There will be a three month probationary period.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

It is essential that the Finance and Administration Manager:

• Has some financial experience
• Is able to work effectively on their own
• Is able to work effectively as part of a small, geographically dispersed staff team, and with trustees
• Is able to work effectively and sensitively with staff in partner organisations overseas
• Takes pride in the quality of the work they produce
• Is numerate and accurate, with experience of collaborative working.
• Understands the importance of meeting deadlines and of compliance with Board and statutory requirements
• Knows when to ask for help
• Is committed to Firefly, its mission, its partners and the children and young people it helps.

It is desirable that the postholder:

• Has experience of Xero or another widely used accounts package such as Quickbooks or Sage. Training in Xero will be given.
• Has experience of using a CRM for the input and management of data. Training in Donorfy will be given.
• Has experience of book-keeping.
