Role
This post-holder will play a vital role in the core staff team and will work closely with Sunny Govan Community Radio’s Management to create and facilitate pathways of progression which enable attendees, participants, volunteers, trainees, and staff to realise and develop their potential within a variety of roles in Sunny Govan Community Radio and beyond e.g., volunteers, employees, apprentices, participants, and attendees.
For this role you will need to welcome and embrace challenges, you will have the drive, enthusiasm, and experience to motivate people from a wide range of backgrounds and at different stages of their personal journey. The aim is to create an internal skills development route which enables people to successfully evolve and progress into decent employment, further education, become better at their volunteering roles or secure and sustain their employment within the operational requirements of the services and programmes that Sunny Govan Community Radio will deliver.
We are looking for someone with previous employment support / work related coaching experience who is motivated and highly organised. A person who can assess where people are at and what is required to enable them to realise and develop the skillset, behaviours, and attitudes essential to sustain decent employment.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake an assessment of, and with, Sunny Govan volunteers, trainees, and staff to identify individual needs and develop an appropriate plan of support and interventions in response.
- Re-establish SQA delivery within Sunny G premises and work locations
- Provide support for people to develop and further their engagement with Sunny Govan Community Radio’s personal development, volunteering and employment opportunities.
- Provide, develop, deliver and support training and learning opportunities which increases skills and self-efficacy - Establish motivating relationships which enable people to realise their potential. - Work with Sunny Govan Community Radio to provide training and guidance to Team Leaders in developing suitable internal training and workshops.
- Work cooperatively as part of Sunny Govan Community Radio including attending and contributing to team meetings and wider community engagement.
- Update Sunny Govan Radio monitoring systems with outcomes and interventions as required
- Liaise with key partners
- Ensure the views and wishes of local people are central to your work and encourage participation across all services and activities.
Development
- Actively engage with local people to ensure that Sunny Govan Community Radio is evolving, and new ideas are heard.
- Attendance/Represent Sunny Govan Community Radio at external and internal meetings to promote, share information and develop relationships with partners
- Work in partnership with other local organisations to maximise the opportunities available to local people.
- Support the creation and development of employability and training opportunities. - Organise information events and sessions for promotion of opportunities.
Administration & Monitoring Duties
- Monitor time and attendance and progression of individuals
- Identify suitable funding opportunities and contribute to writing funding bids.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork for everyone is completed
- Produce statistical information on the level of participation and facilitate evaluation - To undertake administrative duties including word processing and report writing
Education
- Certificate of Higher Education (preferred)
- Have achieved relevant External Verifier award for SVQ or HN or be working towards it.
Experience
- Experience of Delivering SQA SVQ learning opportunities
- Experience working in Training and Employability
- Experience of working in Community Projects
- Radio / Media experience is desirable

About the Role:
The Diploma in Integrative Counselling is 2-year course, credit rated at SCQF level 10 by the University of the West of Scotland, and validation from COSCA. Murray’s Initiative is one of the founding COSCA members and adheres to the COSCA ethical framework for good practice in counselling, psychotherapy and counselling skills. The course requires lead tutors who are accredited by COSCA to Diploma level or committed to work towards accreditation. Tutors should be experienced Counsellors who are accredited with an appropriate professional body, or working towards accreditation (e.g., COSCA/BACP/UKCP).
The Lead Course Tutor will have responsibility for two Diploma Courses, leading on one weekly class and one weekend class. The Lead Course Tutor will be expected to contribute to a Murray’s Initiative CPD calendar, writing and delivering on content agreed with the Head of Diploma and Training. The Lead Course Tutor will support the development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of the Diploma in Integrative Counselling.
The Lead Tutor will report to the Head of Diploma and Training.

About the Role:
The Group Worker will support our peer-led Harm Reduction Service (U-Turn) benefiting young people 11 – 25 years old to design and deliver youth-led inputs on issue-based topics, with a focus to incorporate harm reduction approaches and address stigma/language around substance use.
The Group Worker will have responsibility for developing our weekly groups for our Peer Educators to take part in training around areas such as leadership, team building, issue-based topics and wellbeing. These groups will provide a safe, trauma-informed space where individuals will be able to feel confident to develop coping skills and resilience.
The service specifically targets some of the most vulnerable young people in areas where Murray’s Initiative currently delivers services, aiming to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and other drugs within their communities.
The Peer Educators will be supported to deliver peer-led inputs to other Young People on issued-based topics, with a focus to incorporate a harm reduction approach as well as a separate element of addressing stigma/language around drug and alcohol use.
The Group Worker will report to the Service Manager – Education & Development.

Part-Time Accountant/Trust Secretary

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Baird Trust (& 3 other grant giving charities *) is seeking a skilled and committed accountant. This is an important role, overseeing the charities financial operations and ensuring strong financial stewardship. You will be responsible for bookkeeping, management and statutory accounts, budgeting, financial compliance and reporting to the four Boards. Acting as Trust Secretary to each of the four Boards.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Purpose of the role
To oversee and manage all aspects of financial operations for The Baird Trust and three other charities, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and managing the financial operations of the organisations. The role includes bookkeeping, financial reporting, budgeting and statutory accounts. Act as Secretary of the four trusts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bookkeeping
- Maintain accurate financial records using SAGE and EXCEL.
- Manage and classify receipts and payments and allocate the transactions to the correct ledger accounts.
Financial management and reporting
- Produce management accounts four times a year.
- Monitor cash flow.
- Prepare annual budgets for the Boards of Directors.
- Recording Investment transactions.
Statutory Accounting
- Prepare and finalise statutory accounts in accordance with the Charity SORP.
- Liaise with the Auditors/ Independent Examiner and ensure timely submission of the Annual Accounts to Companies House and OSCR.
Governance, compliance and advisory
- Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and Scottish Charities legislation.
- Act as Company Secretary for relevant submissions and documentation.
Trust Secretarial duties
- Prepare agendas for Board meetings.
- Attend Board meetings and take the Minutes.
- Pay all grants awarded.
- Manage day to day operation of the trusts and trust office and staff.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
- Internal: Boards of Trustees and part- time Administrator.
- External: Auditors/Independent Examiner, Companies House, OSCR, Investment Advisors, Insurance Broker.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (CA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent experience) with strong charity finance experience including management accounts and statutory reporting. Familiarity with Charity SORP and regulations for non-profits and excellent working knowledge of SAGE accounting software.
Proficient in excel. Excellent attention to detail. Able to communicate financial information clearly.
Knowledge of property management.
