Glasgow ESOL Forum is a charity based in Glasgow that supports asylum seekers, refugees, and New Scots to learn English. We deliver SQA accredited classes as well as less formal community-based learning opportunities. This is an exciting time as we develop a new strategic plan and look forward to the recruitment of a Chief Executive Officer, and a period of consolidation and change.

We are looking for people to join our Board to bring their skills, expertise, and perspectives. We particularly welcome applicants from underrepresented groups and those with lived experience of ESOL services.

We would like to further strengthen our Board in the areas of finance, income generation and fundraising, and marketing and communications. Most importantly, we want applicants who are passionate about what we do and have a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

The commitment now we are looking for is around 3 hours per month, preparing for and attending our Board meetings. We meet annually for a strategy and training day. We are currently reviewing the frequency of our meetings.

Articulate Cultural Trust was established in 2017 to make sure children with care experience can have a positive childhood. Our purpose is to improve the lives of the young people by scaffolding their innate curiosity and creativity. We provide direct support through the arts for well-being, to build skills and give a voice and platform to children and young people in and those who have left care and who share our vision, mission and passion for creativity as a tool for social, educational, and economic health.

Articulate is a niche and specialist charity that has equality, diversity and inclusion at its core and co-designs services that benefit Scotland’s most vulnerable young people, specifically those who are or have experienced care, homeless, seeking asylum, at risk, or living in poverty in our most challenged communities.

We promote quality and excellence through creative learning and by ensuring diverse and marginalised potential is discovered, nurtured and supported thereby also contributing to the diversification of the creative industries.

How We Do It:

Through our access, participation and employability projects, Articulate improves the well-being, achievement, and attainment of young people of all backgrounds. Articulate works with the most skilled artists in Scotland, across all art-forms and inclusively with children at all ages and stages of their social, educational and emotional development. We deliver highly creative programmes for children that focus on developing positive outcomes for learning, for life and in preparation for the world of work.

​Trustee Recruitment

​Articulate is looking to recruit new Trustees to support the development of the charity's strategic direction, quality assurance, risk management, fund-raising and good governance in line with our ambitious ten-year plan.

We would like to hear from any interested individuals who have the time and commitment to support our activities. In particular, we seek younger applicants and people with care experienced backgrounds and/or with education, human resources, mental health, IT or capital fundraising knowledge.

We would particularly benefit from input by people with lived experience of the care system and we'd also benefit hugely from the guidance of a Trustee from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background*. ACT is committed to diversity and inclusion but at present, we have no Trustees of colour. We are very keen to address this deficit and welcome applicants from ethnically diverse communities.

The Trustee Role

As a Trustee, you will be a key decision-maker, responsible for supporting the organisation's direction, values, and governance structure. Your dedication and leadership will be essential in shaping believe-IN's future. We are specifically seeking individuals for the following roles:

1) Treasurer:

- Finance professional with knowledge of charity finance (an advantage) or other accountancy background.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.

- Clear communicator, able to bring financial information alive to non-finance specialists.

- Willing to play an active role in areas such as forecasting, setting budgets, and liaising with auditors.

2) Fundraising Professional:

- Knowledge of charity fundraising (an advantage) or a willingness to learn.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.

- Background in management, fundraising, or community development.

3) Community Development Professional:

- Knowledge of charity Community Development Professional (an advantage) or an academic background and willingness to learn.

- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.

- Academic background in management, fundraising, or community development.

We are looking for individuals who bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, broadening the diversity of thinking on our board.

Glasgow Council on Alcohol (GCA) provides a range of services from a trauma informed position, for the communities in which we serve. These services include

These are to name a few and we are constantly striving to ensure we provide the support our communities want, need and expect from us.

Our training and education department now deliver an Integrative Diploma In Counselling and Psychotherapy and our training delivery ranges from Cosca Skills modules 1-4, Counselling Supervision, Group work, Further Steps to ABI training for Trainers and Trauma Informed Practice to name a few.

We are looking to expand membership of our Board of Directors, to develop the strategic direction, support the aims and objectives and ensure good governance. If you can devote the time and are motivated to assisting us we would welcome your application.

We would be particularly interested in hearing from enthusiastic individuals who have experience in strategy and governance, with skills, experience and knowledge in any of the following areas:

Board membership is voluntary and unpaid, although travel expenditure may be reimbursed. Learning and development opportunities exist for all Board members, including induction training.
