As Maintenance Assistant at Rachel House in Kinross you will have an important part to play in achieving this vision.
About this Role
You will work within the culture, ethos and philosophy of CHAS, to provide a comprehensive building, grounds and equipment maintenance service for Rachel House and to help to maintain a safe, pleasant and tidy environment for the children or young people with life-threatening or life-limiting conditions, their families, staff, volunteers and visitors.
Grounds and Hospice Maintenance responsibilities will include the undertaking of minor works projects directed by the Maintenance Team leader, regular inspections of the building and minor DIY tasks. Maintaining all roads and pathways within the grounds of Rachel House is a key part of the role.
Equipment Maintenance responsibilities will include working in accordance with the manufacturer’s guidelines to maintain technical and non-technical equipment within the hospice and undertaking necessary repairs as required. You will be responsible for carrying out regular testing including, but not exclusively, Legionella, portable appliances and water quality. You will also undertake regular inspections for Health & Safety, and Fire Safety.
This role will provide support to volunteers and supervision of on-site contractors.
About You
We are looking for a friendly, outgoing person with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. You will enjoy working as part of a team and be effective at communicating with a variety of stakeholders. You will have a Modern Apprenticeship qualification in a relevant discipline at SVQ Level 3 or above, or equivalent experience. You will have experience working in a public focused environment providing multi-skilled, building maintenance, with a specific requirement to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and painting and decorating support. You will have obtained IOSH Working Safely in the Workplace qualification.
