Do you have what it takes to make a difference in someone’s life?
Maybe you are already working in social care and want to join an organisation with real relationships and
community at its heart.
This is a great opportunity to work as part of a small team providing specialist support to a young man with
autism, who requires, reassurance, predictability, and consistency from those supporting him. More details
below:
I am a 25-year-old young man who loves to get out and explore the outdoors, in particular walking at the beach and
exploring big open spaces. I have specific words and phrases I use to communicate which I need whoever is
supporting me to know well.
When I feel anxious or stressed, I can struggle with communication, I need whoever is supporting me to remain patient
and calm to allow me to get my words out or give me space if needed.
I enjoy listening to music particularly Kings of Leon and Justin Bieber. I am also a big fan of Disney movies and
like to relax and watch them on my iPad.
I work as part of a social enterprise once a week which involves making compost and preparing firewood to sell to the
local community. I need some encouragement to get there but once I am there, I really enjoy it.
I have a set routine that involves work, supporting the community, maintaining my home and leisure activities. It’s
important that I am involved in planning this at the start of the week, and we stick to this for my overall
wellbeing and to ensure I don’t become anxious.
I am very close to my mum and sister and love to spend time with them. I stay with my mum once a month and spend some
time there during holidays throughout the year.
