Position 1:8-16 hours per week.
Position 2:8 hours per week maternity cover.
Background
This is a unique opportunity to work in a small, close knit team supporting two young adult siblings aged 24 living with ASD and complex mental health issues within college and university settings and within everyday life.
You will be joining a small and committed team that have supported the young adults over the past six years to succeed in their individual higher education courses – one who is working towards their final year at Dundee University and looking towards embarking on further study, and the other continuing at Dundee and Angus College.
Skills and Knowledge
It would be highly beneficial for you to have an understanding, and preferably, experience in autism, mental health and sensory processing disorders. Relevant experience and suitable qualifications are desirable. However, it is just as important that you are friendly, dependable, flexible and adaptable in your approach.
In joining this small and dedicated team, you must be open minded. As you will be working with a family, trust is very important in your role, and you must be able to communicate openly and honestly, and remain calm under pressure.
A large part of family life at home involves many pets, and as such, it is imperative that you are aware of this being an integral part of the support system.
Driving licence essential. Both young adults have access to their own transport. However, having access to your own transport would be desirable should circumstances arise that it may be needed: at such times the relevant mileage would be paid.
PVG essential, paid for by employer.
Hours
During term time working hours will be between Monday and Friday daytime depending on college and university timetables.
Out with term time working hours will also be between Monday and Friday day time. However, these will be more flexible.
For the right candidate, there would be an opportunity to provide support during respite breaks (approximately five days every few months) within various locations, incorporating non-waking sleepover.
Closing Date: 17 March 2023
