The National Training Manager works with people across Scotland to ensure that as many people as possible get the knowledge and tools they need to address mental health this includes staff within the organisation and externally to other audiences.

We look beyond illness by taking a holistic approach that ensures no one has to face mental ill health alone.They work closely with the Fundraising, Operations, and Services teamsto develop, quality assure, manage, and deliver Mental Health courses across Scotland. Deliveringto a diverse audience; including staff and as part of our income generation portfolio.

The National Training Manager will continuously evaluate, review, and update materials to ensure that the courses remain consistent relevant, up-to-date and evidence based to ensure the highest quality and best practice in all that we deliver.

They build and maintain connections with other learning providers and stakeholders to call on specific expertise as needed, and to ensure we complement and add value to other available training. This includes working collaboratively with Mental Health UK training provided to schools through the Bloom and Your Resilience Programmes.

We are looking for an individual with previous experience of developing and delivering training to a variety of audiences adn someone who is comfortable cultivating positive working relationships.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Quality and Improvement to support the internal training needs of the organisation and so some previous experience of quality assurance is desirable.

• The Communications Officer supports with day to day communications tasks and has the knack for transforming exciting activity into engaging content.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated individuals to join our DBI team. DBI Coordinators provide support, advice and personal support planning for people referred from front-line services, carrying out short-term work with people in distress to review the reasons for their distress, develop immediate coping strategies and link them into a range of appropriate community services and facilities.

The purpose of this role is to work with people in distress who are referred by front line services (including Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, NHS24 and Primary Care) to the Level 2 Distress Brief Intervention team. The work includes: reviewing the reasons for distress, working with individuals to develop their Distress Brief Intervention Management Plan and using supported referral to link individuals into a range of appropriate community services and facilities as appropriate.

Training in Level 2 Distress Brief Intervention, specific to the post, will be provided.

The post holders will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or update their membership record for regulated work with protected adults. (The cost are met by the employer)

These posts are part time, working 28 hours per week, office hours of 9am – 5pm with some weekend working on a rota basis (approx. every 6-8wks) and Regular travel will be required once travel restrictions are lifted.

About the DBI Project:

Change Mental Health is the lead partner in the Highlands for the Scottish Government’s Distress Brief Intervention project (DBI). The DBI is a Scotland-wide project, testing a ground-breaking approach to addressing the emotional and psychological pain experienced by people in distress.

Working in partnership with frontline services, including Police, Ambulance service, Primary Care and mental health teams, the project provides rapid referral to focussed, short-term support, with the option of onward referral to longer-term support if required. As a DBI Coordinator, you will join this major, high profile Scottish Government project in a key role.

As a Mental Health Practitioner/Counsellor, you will effectively manage all aspects of the Place2Be provision in partnership with the school ensuring that the children and young people are provided with therapeutic and emotional support, high quality clinical practice and delivery of a full and effective service in Place2Be schools. This includes undertaking clinical assessments and formulations.

Our teams provide a range of services in our partner schools to build resilience early in life through a range of universal and targeted interventions:

• therapeutic and psychoeducational group work
• brief structured one to one work
• digital platforms in partnership with external providers
• online and face to face parenting training and advice
• consultation with school staff

All of these support a child’s ability to engage in school life and also support the mental health of the whole school community. Our work, focused on early intervention, is part of the ‘comprehensive CAMHS system’.

You will also undertake one to one or clinical or group work with children and/or young people and provide Place2Be services such as Place2Talk, Place2Think and Parent Partnership interventions as agreed with the Area Manager and school leadership team.

We welcome applications from qualified counsellors who feel that although they may not meet all the requirements for this role, they have an energy and passion for working with young people in other settings. Demonstrating a willingness and enthusiasm to learn are key components and each application will be looked at individually.

You'll ensure high quality clinical practice and delivery of a full and effective service in Place2Be schools, by undertaking clinical assessments and formulations, identifying and delivering appropriate clinical interventions for children and young people, establishing positive, active and effective relationships with the school and Place2Be management team and actively participating in staff meetings to share best practice and develop clinical thinking, knowledge and learning.

About You

The successful candidate:

Will have a recognised counselling or therapy qualification with substantial post-qualifying experience, along with a good knowledge of the school environment. You will:

• Hold a recognised clinical qualification (in counselling, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, Art/Dance/Drama/Music Therapy)
• Hold a recognised membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP/UKCP/NCS/BPS/HCPC)
• Experience in a clinical role with experience and understanding of working with children, young people and schools
• Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the importance of embedding Assessment and Formulation in clinical practice
• Experience of safeguarding child protection procedures and policy and commitment to safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults
• Show an understanding of how to run an effective school based mental health project and managing and accounting for overall caseload
• Have previous experience in developing project plans into sensible, timely actions that meet the expectations of the school and more senior colleagues
